Dieo McGill Adam Kazzembe was born on April 20, 2001, in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. A full-fledged American, Dieo’s journey as a writer began in the 9th grade when he first read Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Captivated by the power of words, he soon began participating in nationwide poetry contests, where two of his poems were published in The American Library of Poetry. That accomplishment fueled his determination to reach higher.
In 2018, while still in high school, Dieo challenged himself to publish a book before graduation. On his 18th birthday, April 20, 2019, he unveiled his debut work, King Dieo. This milestone became the start of a personal tradition—publishing a new book every year on his birthday. His literary works include Lucy: A Tragic Love Story (2020), Inheritance (2021), The Ritual (2022), and Final Feast (2023). Each release represents a chapter of growth, resilience, and imagination.
Dieo’s life story extends far beyond his books. He graduated as Salutatorian in both middle and high school and has been honored for his leadership and perseverance on multiple occasions. In 2018, he was recognized by Marian Wright Edelman’s Children’s Defense Fund; in 2019, the D.C. Council awarded him for excellence, and The Washington Post featured his story on Father’s Day. He has also been highlighted on Brad’s Show Live. In 2022, he received the Right Direction Award from D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine, recognizing his positive influence and commitment to growth. That same year, he was also honored by the AeroClub Foundation and the Airline Pilots Association International for his unwavering tenacity.
A recent graduate of Arizona State University, Dieo holds a bachelor’s degree in Air Transportation. His passion for aviation parallels his love of writing—both reflect his drive to defy limits, chase dreams, and inspire others.
Through his books and his journey, Dieo continues to remind readers that no obstacle is too great, and no dream too distant. His story is still unfolding, and with every word, he leaves behind a legacy of resilience and hope.
